March 12, 2018 - The Department of Science and Technology – National Capital Region (DOST-NCR) organized the first Science and Technology fair for the students of Pateros from March 12-16, 2018 at the Pateros Elementary School.  It was a joint effort by DOST-NCR’s MUNTAPARLAS cluster led by Mr. Kim Atienza, Philippine Foundation for Science and Technology (PFST) led by Executive Director – Ms. May Pagsinohin and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Pateros headed by Mayor Miguel Ponce.

The opening ceremony was attended by Regional Director Jose B. Patalinjug III of DOST-NCR, Ms. May Pagsinohin of PFST, Mayor Miguel Ponce of the Municipality of Pateros and other local government leaders, teachers and students from the different schools in Pateros.

In Mayor Ponce’s welcoming remarks he mentioned that this kind of event/fair was the first in the history of Pateros.  He was very thankful that DOST-NCR has helped to make this happen.  He also asked RD Patalinjug’s help to organize and bring HANDA for Kids to Pateros as well.

The students and teachers got to enjoy and learn through the S&T exhibits brought by PFST.  They also got to enjoy the very interactive session with the Mad Science Camp.  Aspiring programmers also got the chance to work on programming a simple robot.

In RD Patalinjug’s speech, he mentioned that DOST-NCR is always happy to bring learning to the different cities and municipalities in NCR.  He also encouraged the students to take this opportunity to learn the fun way.  To answer Mayor Ponce’s request, he assured the Mayor and the students and teachers of Pateros that this will not be the last activity that the agency will bring to the municipality of Pateros.
